Weekends

We all spend (well, those of us who work the standard Monday - Friday, daytime deal anyway) all week working so that we can relax and have fun on the weekends. We push ourselves to get our butts out of bed at some ungodly hour to go into places where we spend the bulk of our time. Monday is always the big gripe-fest, Wednesday marks the half-way to freedom and the last 2 hours of Friday take longer than the previous 4 days combined. Then we're finally free - 2 whole days of glorious freedom from work and responsibility!

Oh yeah...except that the weekend can't really start until you get through your hellish commute home. Then you have supper and realize that you're not 20 any more and that waking up at 6 AM every day this week means that by 9:30 or 10 you're going to be dragging your carcass to bed because you NEED sleep. Oh well...there's still Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is filled with chores, errands, catching up on all the little odds and ends - but at least you get to sleep late. You go out, but you really didn't get your day of rest. Then Sunday comes around and the family wants your time. You forgot a few other things that you needed to do on Saturday, so you cram those in as well. Before you know it, it's 8 0'clock, you haven't eaten supper, you still need to bathe the dog and shower AND still try to get ready for work.

Let's re-cap - you work 5 days out of the week. Then you work on Saturday. Then you work on Sunday. Do you wonder now why you're bitchy on Monday? I didn't think so!

Sadly, the 3-day weekend is even more exhausting than the standard 2 day type. What has become of the world? We work so that we can go home and do more work. We work at the office, at home, day, night and every time we possibly can. What is so wrong with just switching off for a while? Sit down, read a book, sip away at an iced tea and relax.

Well...not for me! I'm off to run a million errands before I have a crazy busy weekend! Monday can't come fast enough so that I can get some rest!
