I hate to make myself sound like a racist or a bigot. I’m not. I have friends and family from many races and religions and I love and respect them all. My policy is to judge you for who you are and what you do, *then* make discriminatory remarks. My use of racial/politically incorrect slurs are often not even the “correct” slurs to use. (I’ll often refer to people as “retards;” however, mentally handicapped people are “mentally handicapped” or “cognitively impaired.” If I call you “gay” though, it is because I think that you’re a homosexual and I love lesbians, gays and all the confused in-betweeners.) (Hehehehe…that sounded like “weeners.” LOL)
That said, I have to let this one out because it really pisses me off. My cousin sent me a message to sign a petition. No problem, right. Usually, the petition is for something that I believe in and I’m happy to do it. This was a petition to the Government of Canada to continue and expand the funding of post-secondary funding for aboriginals and people of aboriginal descent. I deleted it right away. Let me say this, it’s not that I don’t think that these folks should be allowed an education. I think that everyone should be free to pursue whatever academic endeavour they so choose. I just believe that this pursuit should be available on a level playing field.
Now, certainly I have considered that I am maybe a little jaded. I know that a few days ago I opened a letter from my bank stating that I only owe them a little more than $30,000.00 for my student loans and I’m down to a mere $8,500 on my other student loan. They were totalling $42,000.00 at one point, and I had money set aside to go to school with! What I want to know is why I, a natural born Canadian, born after the settlement of this nation is required to pay roughly $50,000.00 for the privilege of post-secondary schooling while others born under those same circumstances but with a different skin colour get a free ride. Isn’t that a form of discrimination as well? Isn’t that preferential treatment for other?
I’m fucking sick of this shit! I don’t mean to seem insensitive, but enough is enough. Yeah…Whitemasterwhiteywhite and all his cracker friends came over here from mostly England and France and royally fucked aboriginal peoples out of their entire way of life. They enslaved these peoples and forced them through an education system that robbed them of their culture. I get that. Fuck! There are even days that *I* feel guilty about that, but am I responsible for what a bunch of Limeys and Frogs did a few hundred years ago? Fuck no! I wasn’t there. Even if I was, I’ve got tits so they would have slapped me around and told me to go fuck my hat. The simple fact is that it is in the past and too many concessions are being made now. Why the hell must we kowtow to aboriginal peoples today for the sins of the forefathers of this nation? Sorry it happened, but there is nothing that can be done now and I think a few hundred years of penance is plenty long enough. Time to wake the fuck up gang. There is not one person in this country who is responsible for the actions of his or her parents, let alone many generations removed. It is high time that history is left in the past and we step forward into the future. The future should not include discrimination. Keep your reservations as “family property” and your schools as separate schools. Maintain your languages and teach your children your culture as any other group in our society teaches theirs. Whatever. Just quit insisting that you’re entitled to a hand-out because one of your ancestors suffered some great ill. I have Irish in my background, do you see me whining about the effects that the Protestant movement had on Ireland and going after some sort of monetary compensation from the government for that? No! Hell! I know the part of my German side who was living in Poland just prior to WWII. I can’t go after Germany for the losses that my great-grandparents suffered.
Here’s a news flash people – it’s a brand new day, a new generation and a new world. Things have changed, so must the practices. This is a part of life. (Keep in mind, we were once completely subject to the British government and the Queen of England. We changed that because it was antiquated and so too is this.)
You want equal fucking treatment? Here's the way it works - you get money if you earn it (income, tuitition money, etc.) or if you sell something of value to obtain the money. You aren't entitled to it. You want to go to school? Every person in Canada is allowed a "free" education via the public school system until age 18/19, unless he/she chooses to leave school or violates a law which causes this privilege to be withdrawn. You want to attend post-secondary? Qualify on your own merits and either pay for it yourself or obtain student loans.
You want to be my equal? Quit touting yourself as being different from me. You're not.
