I thought that knowing that there was an end in sight would make the job more enjoyable. You know, appreciate what you've got for the short time that remains. No, no. I'm so miserable here that I found myself hoping that the unplanned management meeting this morning was to terf me and pay me out. I was actually day-dreaming about it!
They fired a friend of mine last week. Admittedly, he had it coming. He's been quite a screw-up since they partnered him with the owner's crack-head (literal!) nephew. He was a stand-up guy before that, so how much can they really blame him? They are the ones who introduced him to the crack-head, knowing that this guy was really good at influencing people. (He's likable and before you know it, he hooks you into his screwed up world of slackin' and crackin'.) Still, it was sucky. I totally agree with the decision though.
Yesterday they fired a totally fantastic guy who was also a friend of mine because he wouldn't kiss ass to the new warehouse manager. He showed up, did his job, busted his ass to make sure that everything was done and he got terfed. Some cunt who worked in the warehouse bitched about him "sexually harassing" her and that was enough for the new manager to toss his ass. Yeah...I know this guy. He ALWAYS tests the waters and makes sure that you're okay with his jokes and if he ever gets the slightest feeling that he's crossed the line, he'll apologize immediately and change the behavior. He's one of those genuine great guys and he got tossed.
I've been here for over a year and I've seen only 2 things happen with the really great people who have come on since me - they've quit because they just can't take the shit here, or (more frequently) they get canned because some cock-hound above them doesn't like that they are intelligent, capable, forward-thinking, motivated people.
I'm looking forward to being done here. Maybe once I put in my notice they'll just pay me out. Maybe. I doubt it though.
